  8. The 'watch' command displays the current software stopwatch
  9. values, with min and max readings for each.  This facility allows
  10. a programmer to measure the execution time of critical sections
  11. of code with microsecond resolution.

  13. This command is supported only on the IBM PC, and the meaning of
  14. each stopwatch value depends on where the calls have been
  15. inserted for test purposes; the distribution copy of NOS usually
  16. has no stopwatch calls.

  18. [With some machines it may be essential to keep 'watch' turned
  19. off, as there are unwanted side effects if it is turned on.  For
  20. example, it makes the PC emulator in the Archimedes machine
